Secondly, don’t let your kids go back inside yet. The soot and dirty water that has collected inside of your home could potentially contain things that might make you sick. Before you begin cleaning up or making repairs, ask the fire department or restoration specialists whether it is safe to do so. If the fire department has turned off your utility services, do not turn them back on yourself. The fire department most likely turned them off for safety reasons so make sure you find out if its safe to turn them back on before you do so.
