Sometimes you know when a storm is coming – you’ll hear it on the radio, a news station, or a neighbor will mention it to you. However, in some cases you may not always know when a disaster is about to strike. That’s why it’s important to stay prepared all of the time, even if you aren’t expecting anything to go wrong. Here are some tips on emergency preparedness:
Count the number of people in your household. You’ll want to have at least one gallon of water per person each day in case of an emergency. You’ll want to have an additional few gallons in case you’re stuck in one place for a long period of time.
- Try to keep about two weeks’ worth of water on hand. While that means storing 14 gallons of water per person in your home, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
- Buy plastic or glass food storage containers for water. You can fill the bottles from your tap or use distilled and bottled water.
