Mark the outline of your sump pump by turning it upside down on your basement floor.

  • Use a demolition hammer to get through your concrete basement floor and make sure the hole is deep enough so that the basin is flush with the floor.
  • Use filter fabric to wrap up the sump basin before setting it into the hole.
  • Add a few inches of gravel to your basin and then lay a stone paver on top of the gravel. Once you’ve done this, place the pump on top.
  • Connect your PVC pipe and check valve to the pump and run the pipe to a nearby wall.
  • Drill a hole to extend the pipe out of your home.
  • Use concrete to fill in the hole around the basin top.
  • Plug in the sump pump. You can test it by filling the basin with water.
