Mold is a problem that most homeowners don’t think that they’ll ever have. However, mold is unfortunately common and it isn’t always easy to know when you have it. Dealing with it in a timely manner is very important if you don’t want to risk getting your family sick or having to spend a lot more in the long run having walls torn out and mold removed.
Wipe down non-porous floors and surfaces with a mixture of one cup bleach to one gallon water. Use a sponge or mop and repeat the process to kill all mold.
- Use a vacuum with HEPA filter to remove mold from walls. You’ll need to then sand any wood and coat it with a mold inhibitor to keep more mold from growing.
- Get a professional evaluation from a qualified contractor who knows how to deal with mold. Knowing how bad your mold damage is is something that you absolutely need to do if you suspect mold. Improper cleaning can lead to continued mold growth which could require drywall removal down the road.
