While Georgia is not infamous for terrible blizzards, hurricanes, or earthquakes, we do see our share of dangerous storms. If the recent winter storms have been any indication, it is important to take some simple precautions in case a natural disaster or other emergency should befall your community.
Here are a few items to stock up on now that will always come in handy when the lights go out:
- Toilet Paper & Rubbing Alcohol – In addition to their obvious abilities to provide hygienic aid, these two items can be combined to provide a long lasting light and heat source.
- Candles & Matches – These two items bring light, warmth and the ability to purify your drinking water. These should be the first items on any emergency kit’s list.
- Homemade Fridge – Two pots, some soil and water will create a working refrigerator that can keep many foods cool for up to three weeks.
