If you’re decorating your home for the holidays, make sure that you are considering more things than the way the tinsel works with the new lights that you’ve chosen for your tree. While you’re planning for your decorations you should also pay close attention to whether or not the home is safe from catching on fire. Here are some tips that we recommend you follow:

This is a good example of a very bad idea.
Use nonflammable or at least flame retardant decorations that are placed far away from the heating vents.
- Make sure that nothing is blocking the exits. It might seem like a beautiful place for a tree, but if it hinders your family’s ability to get in and out in the case of an emergency then that makes it far less pretty.
- You might be tempted to burn wrapping paper after the holiday is over. Don’t! This can cause dangerous sparks and embers that could lead to a house fire.
