Celebrate Building Safety Month This May

Topics:

May is Building Safety Month, a time each year that’s dedicated to helping individuals, business owners and even landlords understand what it takes to create sustainable structures to live and work in. While Building Safety Month may not seem like something to celebrate there are some things you can do, like educating yourself with home safety tips. Use this information to make sure your home is safe this month.

This year’s theme is Building Safety: Maximizing Resilience and Minimizing Risk. Take time to talk about ways to make your home more structurally sound and evaluate your home for risk.

  • Have your home inspected for potential damage. While you might think you would see any type of serious damage, sometimes structural problems aren’t easily seen by an untrained eye. Hire a qualified contractor to come look at your home for a basic evaluation, especially if you live in an older house.
  • Talk to your landlord or tenants about building safety principles. Work together to improve your building or space and you’ll both be happier with your living and property situation.
