When preparing for storms in your Atlanta home, you’ll probably keep the safety of your family in mind above all else – and with good reason. However, don’t forget that your pets are part of the family as well. The following are a few tips for putting together an emergency evacuation kit for your pets:
Get a good bag that you can keep all of your pet supplies in. A backpack or a duffle bag are good options, especially those with several zippered compartments.
- When packing your pet’s food, you should bring along enough for 3 to 7 days. Look for pop top cans that don’t require a can opener or wet food that comes packed in foil pouches. Pack your dry food in Ziploc bags or in Tupperware.
- Bring enough bottled water for 3 to 7 days. You’ll want a water dish as well since your pet probably can’t handle a bottle of water.
- Microchip your pet so that it can be found if it runs off. Make sure you bring all identification with you as well.
