Check everybody is safe and if there is any need to call out the emergency services.
Survey the situation
Next, you’ll need to examine if there is any further danger to your family or the public. Do a visual check of the damage are there any power lines down or exposed, or any gas leaks, if so call the utility company immediately. Keep people clear of any falling debris or loose roof tiles.
Contact your household insurers.
Now all is safe call you’ll need to call your insurance company and make a claim.
Record the damage
To assist any insurance claim take as many pictures as you can of the damage prior to any repair work.
Safety is paramount in these situations; you may need to call in a tree surgeon as a matter of urgency. This will be particularly true if the tree is likely to cause further injury or additional damage. It is important to keep your insurers informed of any work you have to undertake in an emergency.
