Spring is a time when many people choose to start straightening up the inside of their homes, ushering the winter and the dust that comes with it out. However, spring cleaning doesn’t just mean fluffing those pillows and adding some bright colors to your décor. There’s also real house maintenance you should consider doing in order to prevent damage to your home this season.
Touch up the paint on the exterior portions of your home. Trim tends to suffer a great deal in the winter, but you might find spots on the structure of your home that could use a little TLC. Inspect your home thoroughly and touch up as you go.
- Clean your gutters. Gutters can get very heavy toward the end of the winter and cleaning them can be difficult in low temperatures. Once the winter has passed and the spring that has started it’s time to make sure those gutters don’t damage your home’s siding or overflow and cause water damage to your home.
- Spend some time pruning trees and get them inspected by an arborist. Spring and early summer are known for storms, and dead branches or damaged trees can present hazards to your home in high winds.
