Having to deal with water damage in your home can be a real hassle. Because of this, it’s a good idea to think ahead in order to try and prevent water damage from occurring. The following are a few things that you can do to help prevent water from infiltrating your home:
- Extend your downspout leaders so that their several feet away from your house in order to keep water away from your home’s foundation.
- Pitch your garden beds away from the house to keep excess water from draining back towards your home’s foundation.
- Make sure that you clean your gutters out on a regular basis to prevent them from becoming backed up – backed up gutters can result in water leaking into your house.
- Make sure that you turn soil or mulch near your house on a daily basis. This will make it easier for the soil to drain excess water.
- Promote airflow on your property by trimming back your trees, shrubs and bushes. There should be a body’s distance between them and your home.
