Make Sure Your Home Office Is Also Covered By Insurance

Topics:

An important part of disaster preparedness in Georgia is making sure that you know what your homeowner’s insurance covers. Don’t ever assume it covers everything, since this can lead to financial disaster if anything happens to your home. For example, does your insurance cover your home office?

Some standard homeowner’s insurance policies will offer some protection for your home office – although not all do. However, these policies generally only offer up to $2,500 at most in replacement costs. Many home offices contain equipment that’s much more valuable, from your computer to your printer and more. You may want to purchase an endorsement in order to raise your coverage limits. It can boost your limit to as much as $10,000. You should also consider liability endorsement in case anyone is injured within your home office, since your general liability coverage will not cover this. Don’t try to go without an endorsement if you need it either – your claim may be denied and the insurer won’t be happy with you for neglecting to inform them about your home office.
