During the summer months most homeowners put maintenance on hold because of the warm weather. However, when summer is coming to a close, there are some basic maintenance steps you need to take before the harsh weather and cool temperatures of autumn and winter roll around.
Check Your Basement
Toward the end of summer you’ll start to feel the weather changing. While that won’t do much to the inside of your home, it can wreak havoc on your basement. Before autumn is here, it’s a good idea to check your basement for excess moisture – particularly in areas near windows and outside walls. You may even find some cracks and damage if you live in a particularly warm area. Those cracks need to be fixed before winter.
Washer and Dryer Maintenance
Maintaining your washer and dryer isn’t any fun, but it’s something you need to do before the weather changes. Replace your washer hoses and check your dryer vents for clogs and clean them if necessary.
