If you’re like most people, then summer can’t come fast enough! Everyone’s tired of the cold and rainy weather, and if you’re like us, you can’t wait to spend a few sunny afternoons barbecuing outside with friends and family! However, you need to be prepared for the fire hazards that come along with summer as well.

There are a lot of fire hazards that are present during the summer. For example, barbecuing outside presents a fire hazard in itself if you aren’t careful. Leave the grill unattended for just a second and it could be accidentally knocked down. It’s why you should always keep an eye on it and make sure that it’s not used near the house or anything that’s flammable. Another big fire hazard is the use of fireworks in the backyard – you should always be careful about firework use and make sure that they are legal for use where you live.

Besides taking precautions when grilling out or using fireworks, make sure that you have smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors throughout your house. Replace the batteries and test them to ensure they work.

Be careful this summer and contact Parker Young for more home safety tips.
